Christine Valenza Shin
Associate Dean of Beyond Barnard, Barnard College
Christine Valenza Shin was recently promoted to Associate Dean for Beyond Barnard, Barnard College’s hub for advising and resources around careers, internships, competitive fellowships, and applications to graduate and professional school. For the past two years, she has led the Advising & Programs team at Beyond Barnard, overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Beyond Barnard programs including mentoring, career insight panels, workshops, and other programs. She worked with her fellow advisers to develop best practices to meet the needs of Barnard's diverse student and alumnae body, while keeping current with the changing world of work in the 21st century.
Christine is a 1984 Barnard graduate, where she majored in history and minored in education. Christine completed a Certificate in Career Planning and Development at New York University in 2013, and is certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and Strong Interest Inventory® career assessments.
